The opening
hole offers the golfer a first look at both the beauty and the
classic design strategy that is in store for them at El Legado de
Chi Chi Rodriguez Golf Resort. The entire hole unfolds before you as
you step on to the formalized rectangular tees and are able to see
all the way to the green. The character of the large fairway bunker
on the left sets the tone for all the bunkers on the course. Play
towards this bunker on the tee shot and youíll set yourself up for
the best angle of attack on the approach shot. |

| Hole No. 2 |

457
yards |
par

This hole
has the feel of a slight dogleg to the left because of the two
fairway bunkers on the inside left, which are very much in play off
the tee. Aim down the right side and allow the constant crosswind to
push the ball back toward the middle of the fairway. A large wide
green is set in perpendicular to the flight-line, with a small
bunker set in the front center and fairway running around both sides
of it to create a double approach. This gives the option to run the
ball up to either side of the putting surface depending on where the
pin is located. |

This is the first hole where
the prevailing wind hits you head on. A solid tee shot is paramount
in order to keep a good start to the round in tact. The right side
of the green is the safe place to bail-out and will afford a fair
chance to get it up and down for par if youíre struggling to
negotiate the hole. |

400

par

A true dogleg right, the tee
shot is played to a wide landing area framed by a large bunker on
the inside and two bunkers on the outside of the fairway. A power
fade off the tee will put you in the perfect position to hit an
approach shot to a green located on the opposite side of the water
channel that runs across the northern end of the site. |

| Hole No. 5 |

214

par

The 5th hole is a very
picturesque par 3 with a green set on an existing pond. Club
selection is very important, as you donít want to come up short on
the tee shot. The putting surface is relatively subtle with a good
slope on the back left to help hold a ball and feed it back to a pin
cut on the right. |

| Hole No. 6 |
 |
395

par
4 |
A good ìrisk / rewardî par 4,
the 6th hole plays downwind and is guarded by a pond along the left
that could grab your tee shot or approach. If you choose to go the
conservative route it will require good distance control to lay up
short of the pond. To attack this hole and take advantage of the
wind, you must carry over the fairway bunker on the right. Be
careful though, any miscue could end up meeting a watery grave in
the pond on the left or the channel down the right. |

| Hole No. 7 |

546

par

The first of four great par
5ís youíll encounter at El Legado. The prevailing wind will make
this hole a true three shotter. Challenge the fairway bunkers up the
left side on the 1st and 2nd shots to give yourself the more open
alley to hit the green in regulation. |

| Hole No. 8 |

No. 8 will prove to be one of
the most unforgettable par 3ís youíll ever try to conquer. The hole
is situated on a pond that stretches along its entire length from
tee to green. There is a good amount of room to bail-out on the
right, but the proper shot would be a draw from right to left into
this wide green that is separated in the middle by a small mound in
the putting surface. |

| Hole No. 9 |

601

par

| Tee it up and let it fly on this downwind par
5. Despite the pond and stream channel all the way along the right
side, this hole has generous landing areas and could be reached in
two with a couple of mighty blows. Take heed of the long narrow
green because a back pin could play one club longer than you may
think. |

| Hole No. 10 |
 |
410

par

| There are three fairway bunkers triangulating
the landing area on this opening hole to the back nine. The ideal
tee shot would be straight away towards the farthest target bunker,
however, you must take note of the terrace running through the
middle of the green and know which level the pin is on to get it
close for birdie. |

With many of the back nine
holes running north or south, the wind will become a major factor
beginning with this one. The wind can help you or hurt you depending
on the circumstances, and those who can hit it high or low on
command will have the opportunity to make up a lot of ground on
their opponent. The 11th calls for a low boring shot into the wind
to a large and wide green. |

| Hole No. 12 |
 |
435
yards |
par
4 |
| Potentially the most difficult hole on the
course due to the wind, this par 4 may play like a par 5 for some.
The green complex is a large target completely void of any bunkers
with fairway bail-out areas on both the left and right sides. There
is plenty of room to work in even the longest second
shot. |

| Hole No. 14 |
 |
575
yards |
par
5 |
Youíre not out of the wind yet,
but youíll have three shots to reach the green in regulation on this
575 yards par 5. Keep it in the fairway off the tee and play towards
the cross bunker on the right side of the 2nd landing area. Whether
you lay up short of the bunker or fly it, this feature is a good
target to set up the best 3rd shot into a green guarded by a large
bunker on the front left. |

|
|
| Hole No. 15 |
 |
455
yards |
par
4 |
| This long dogleg right favors a tee shot down
the left side of the fairway that avoids the series of three bunkers
on the right. The target bunker to the left of the landing area is a
good feature to aim at being more than 300 yards off the back tee.
The green is well bunkered, but you can take advantage of the wide
approach that opens up from the left. |

|
|
| Hole No. 16 |
 |
242
yards |
par
3 |
| Hole No. 15 is the longest par 3 on the course
and possibly one of the longest you may ever play. The green has
plenty of depth to accept a tee ball hit with a long iron or fairway
wood and has an extended collar all along the right edge that slopes
back towards the putting surface. Donít be fooled by the bunker on
the front left, it only appears to be close to the
green. |

|
| Hole No. 17 |
 |
420
yards |
par

| Finally you can begin the down wind run back to
the clubhouse. With the wind at your back the better player may even
choose to tee off with a fairway wood or long iron to leave the most
desirable yardage in for the second shot. The green is located on
the opposite side of the stream channel and will require complete
accuracy to get it close. |

| Hole No. 18 |
 |
408

| The 17th hole will demand your attention from
tee to green. This dogleg right with the stream channel running all
the way along the right side will play like a classic cape allowing
you to bite off as much as you dare on the tee shot. The green
complex is set up with a bail-out area in the back left, and a
bail-out area on the front right that slopes down to the stream
channel. |

|
| Hole No. 19 |
 |
582
yards |
par
5 |
| Undoubtedly one of the most memorable golf
holes on the island or anywhere else, the 18th at El Legado has
everything you could want in a par 5. Playing across the stream
channel with several waterfalls to allow for the transition of
nearly 20 feet in elevation change up to the island green, you canít
help but be blown away by the beauty and excitement of this hole.
The 1st landing area is wide, but well bunkered to test even the
longest hitters if they try to cut any of the dogleg. With the wind
helping on the tee shot, it is still possible that some will take
the chance on the second shot to reach the island green which is
surrounded by waterfalls. |
